Does cosmelan® work with any type of dark spot?

How long does the treatment last?
The cosmelan® methodconsists of four phases which are necessary to achieve optimum results. Intensive depigmentation in phase 1 in-clinic and treatment for home use in phases 2, 3 and 4. The total duration of treatment is about 6 months + a minimum of 6 months of after care, that can change based on each individuals concerns.
How long will it take to see the results? Why should I continue the treatment if the results are already visible before completing the full treatment time?
The most significant change takes place a few weeks after applying the mask in clinic, it improves the appearance of skin texture and dark spots visibly decrease. This can give a misleading feeling of success. During this period the outermost layers of skin are exfoliated, and therefore we see the improvement in look of dark spots and the skin looks smoother and softer. To ensure best possible results, it is important to continue the home treatment, to help prevent the reappearance of dark spots.
What happens if I stop applying the home treatment?
If you do not follow the home care, you are interrupting the treatment and will therefore not obtain the best possible results and pigmentation will reappear.
Not using sun protection, melan 130 pigment control, provides a very high risk that the dark spots will return, as skin is more sensitive and receptive to external aggressions during the treatment.
Can I combine the cosmelan method with other depigmentation treatments?
During the method, it is not recommended to use any other type of treatment such as peels, microneedling, exfoliation, etc, as it can even cause repigmentation. It is advisable to use soothing and revitalising treatments both in clinic and at home, if needed, and as recommended by the professional.
Can I continue with my normal daily activities during the treatment?
Yes, as it is not an invasive treatment. Caution must be taken, especially during the first few days post-treatment. For example, it is recommended to avoid swimming pools, prolonged sun exposure and activities that involve excessive sweating.

During the initial phase of treatment, the skin may feel irritated or redness could appear. This is totally normal and expected, and it will disappear within a few days. During the home phase, it is common to experience slight peeling and the feeling of sensitivity, which are relieved when applying the home products recommended by the professional.
How does cosmelan® act against blemishes?
